Kmax 9

Kmax 9.x is no longer under development and will not be updated in the future.  Kmax 10.0 is the latest release of the Kmax data acquisition and data analysis application software. Kmax 9.x is still available to customers who cannot upgrade to version 10.0 due to system constraints.  Kmax 9.x is compatible with recent versions of Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems.  It adds Java 3D support and options to view 2D histograms and 3D surfaces. Kmax 9.x requires a full Java JDK and the Java 3D extensions be installed on the computer system (version JDK 6.0 or higher). The full Java JDK is required.

If you are upgrading Kmax…

To upgrade your Kmax license, Download and install the new version from this page by following the instructions provided. If you are upgrading to a version with the same major version number you will NOT need a new license password.


Installing on a Microsoft Windows computer:

To use Kmax 9.x on a Windows system, you will need to install a Java 1.6 JDK and the system should be running a 64-bit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7.  (Depending on system specifics, Kmax may also run on other versions of Java and the Windows OS.)

Before you install Kmax 9.x, you need to make sure you have a Java JDK 6 installed.  You can download a free JDK from SUN Microsystems at the following URL: http://java.sun.com .

If your operating system is not configured to automatically handle archive files, you may need an extractor such as WinZip®.  You can get the shareware version of WinZip® at: www.winzip.com. Use your extractor to extract the files from the Kmax 9xx.zip file into a directory on your computer.

Installing on a Macintosh OS X computer:

In order to run Kmax 9.x you should be running MacOS X 10.6 or higher.  Extract the archive into your HOME directory. To run Kmax, from the Finder go to the Kmax directory that was installed and double-click the Kmax Application.

Installing on an Intel Linux computer:

Before you install Kmax 9.x, you need to make sure you have a Java JDK 6 installed. You can download a free JDK from SUN Microsystems at the following URL: http://java.sun.com.

Extract the Kmax archive to a convenient directory. Then cd into the Kmax directory that was created. To run Kmax, execute the command: java -jar Kmax.jar
