The SCM-301-2 allows a CAMAC Crate to be controlled by
the widely used Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) Bus (ANSI
Standard X3T9.2). Multiple crates may be attach to the same SCSI bus of
any Linux PC, OSX Macintosh or Windows PC.
The standard SCM-301-2 implements all the features of
the IEEE type A1 Controller, with the exception of multicrate
operations, for which there is no provision in the SCSI Standard.
The SCM-301-2 includes level 1 FASTCAMAC features. The
F(5) read command can transfer data from a FASTCAMAC-capable target
module at up to 7.5 megabytes per second across the dataway. FASTCAMAC
block transfers terminate on no-Q or transfer-length-satisfied.
The SCM-301-2 contains a 24-bit LAM mask register, which
may be enabled by a switch. When enabled, only LAMs from stations
corresponding to a set mask bit will be returned by a Read-LAM-Pattern,
N(30)A(0)F(0), command. If the switch is off, all LAMs will be
recognized. CAMAC data acquisition with the SCM-301, SCSI controller is
supported by the Kmax software environment also available from SPARROW.
